Q.
Hello.
I am hoping to acid stain my basement concrete floors. Unfortunately the
contractor who painted the basement walls did not mask the floor and there is a
significant amount of overspray. I am however, able to scrape-off the paint with
a wallpaper scraper. Reading your site has been very helpful. I plan to purchase
some of your Super Blue to further clean the floor. There was also quite a bit
of tape applied to the floor as well as some construction adhesive. I was
thinking that I might also purchase some of your Glue Gone remover to assist
with taking up this material. Given all of this however, I’m wondering what kind
of a look I’m going to get. I’m assuming that I may still see the remnants of
all of this through the finish coat. Therefore, I’m looking for an experienced
opinion. I’d prefer not to have to do an overlay unless absolutely necessary
but, I also understand that this may be required. Please share any thoughts and
recommendations.

Sorry for the delay in responding
Personally if you have all that crap on the floor I would order some Beandoo from franmar.com and use it as an all purpose adhesive remover, additionally they also carry a product called Soy Gel which is an excellent paint remover if you have any paint left after your first efforts
When you feel you have cleaned as much as necessary wet the floor and all areas that are in question will be quite visible. These areas will appear as lighter than areas that are ready for staining
Hope this helps
